Visit of a Delegation from the U.S. Embassy to the University of Constantine 1
On Wednesday, May 13, 2026, University of Constantine 1 Frères Mentouri welcomed a delegation from the United States Embassy in Algeria, headed by Mark Shapiro, in the presence of the University Rector Professor Dehimat Laid, vice-rectors, deans, and institute directors.
The visit began with an official meeting where both sides discussed the activities and missions of the American Corner at the university, as well as the equipment and support provided by the embassy to enhance educational and cultural programs for students and teachers. The Rector expressed his gratitude for the strong cooperation between the university and the U.S. Embassy.
The delegation then visited both the former and the new American Corner facilities. During the inauguration of the new building, Mark Shapiro praised the organization and modern infrastructure of the center, describing it as the largest American Corner in Algeria.
The visit also included speeches highlighting the importance of cultural openness and academic cooperation, followed by the signing of a partnership agreement between the university and the U.S. Embassy. The ceremony concluded with the distribution of certificates to students and instructors involved in the American Corner activities.
