Celebrating the International Day of Women & Girls in Science: the FORECAST perspective

FORECAST joined this international initiative, contributing to the global event dedicated to women in science, towards a future in which science and gender equality can really merge together in strong synergy.

The Workshop, organized by UNIPV and MORE-COLAB, was hosted by the Territory Planning Research Center (CRAT) and University of Constantine 1, in the beautiful scenario of Constantine (Algeria), thanks to the precious support of Aziz Benhamrouche and his Team. The Vice-Rector Relex of University of Constantine 1, Prof. Amira Leila Dib, underlined all the unique, added values of women in science and leading the discussion together with Susana Araujo.

Alma Balestrazzi and Anca Macovei presented their own paths in research, highlighting the obstacles but also the key role of their women mentors, women scientists with highly excellent profiles in the international community of plant science, able to support them along the different steps of their career. Imane Bakiri presented WE4LEAD (Women’s Empowerment For LEADership and Equity in Higher Education Institutions), an ERASMUS Capacity Building project whose consortium includes many universities from EU and South Mediterranean Area.

The workshop event has provided the opportunity to open a bridge, linking FORECAST and WE4LEAD for future proactive collaborative work.
